Trip Introduction:
Tibet Overland Tour offers us some of the most exciting sightseeing experiences of the Himalayas and high-altitude valleys. Tibet is still considered a largely unexplored nation, which makes it a perfect destination for adventure seekers and holidayers. The ancient monasteries scattered in the region, prayer flags flying across the alleys, pilgrims making miles of the journey on foot, the complete remoteness and isolation, give an awed expression to the travelers.

The fascinating history of Tibet, the exile of Dalai Lama, the Chinese Occupation, and first-hand encounters by Heinrich Harrer, gives an impression of exploring an unknown territory and crossing unexplained boundaries. Lhasa is also known as The Forbidden City. The long-kept discreet and away from foreign intrusion is one of the greatest attractions of Tibet. It is also a spiritual and cultural hub of the region.

Mt. Kailash, situated in the western region of Tibet, is another major attraction of the trip. The mountain of Kailash is considered Holy by Hindus and Buddhists alike. Pilgrims from various parts of the Indian subcontinent make miles of the journey to Kailash.

Day 06: Lhasa Sightseeing tour
We will visit Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Bazaar on this day. We will first take a visit to the Drepung Monastery, which was built in the 14th century. It is the world’s largest monastery and is believed to have sheltered around 10,000 monks in the past, but as of now, there has been quite a decline resulting in only a few hundred. The history, culture, and religious beliefs of the Tibetan people are strongly concentrated and centered in this marvelous monastery.

Then, the tour will change its path to the Sera Monastery, which is a preserved monastery with whitewashed walls and golden roofs. The main attraction for the visit to the monastery is to see the monks debating which is held from 3-5 pm every day apart from Sundays. Another destination on our schedule, Jokhang Temple,  is another important sacred site that unravels more deep-seated mysteries of Tibetan Buddhism. You can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni when he was twelve years old. We will further stroll through Barkhor Bazaar (market). With its open-air stalls, shops, and crowds of pilgrims, the place is also considered the nerve center of Lhasa. Overnight in Lhasa.

Day 07: Lhasa sightseeing tour: Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace, and Tibet Traditional Hospital
After breakfast, we will begin the trip to explore Lhasa. We will be visiting the beautiful Potala and Norbulingka Palaces, better known as Winter palace and Summer Palace, respectively. Built in the 17th century, Potala Palace provides amazing views of the entire city and houses the private quarters of the Dalai Lama. We will also visit the Norbulingka Palace houses which are considered to be the largest man-made garden in Tibet.
