Trip Introduction:
Shivapuri Day Hiking is a day hike in Kathmandu that is ideal for those who want to enjoy a wonderful walk on the outskirts of the valley. The hiking allows us to enjoy beautiful green forests, meadows, and farmland, which are located on the outskirts of the valley, and discover the culture and customs of the Nepalese on the way. After breakfast, we will head to Shivapuri Hill, 9 km north of Kathmandu.
Our hike will begin with a visit to the Budhanilkandha Temple, where you will see a giant statue of Vishnu resting on a snake bed. Youâll then embark on a moderate hike into the surrounding farmlands and through Kathmanduâs nearest forest reserve, Shivapuri National Park. After registering at the park entry gate, we will take a pleasant walk through the woods to a hidden Buddhist monastery, Nagi Gompa.
We will then hike uphill to reach this site. You can choose to pause and enjoy sweeping views of the Kathmandu valley below. This spot is great for bird watching, and on a clear day, you may be able to see the snow-capped Himalayas. Once youâve snapped some unforgettable photos, we will descend the hill and continue the hike through the woodlands, past waterfalls, and out of the forest until you reach Sundarijal. Youâll also visit a local bazaar nearby. After your hike, we will drive back to Kathmandu.
