Day 02: Thimpu Sightseeing (2350m /7708ft)

Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan, is a beautiful valley in the heart of the Himalayas. As Bhutan adopts a strict development policy that incorporates traditional and cultural essence with infrastructure development, the city of Thimpu exudes a traditional Bhutanese lifestyle. The place is filled with many Dzongs. The oldest among them is the Sirntokha Dzong. One of the main attractions for you will be the tour of Tashicchodzong.

Day 03: Thimphu to Punakha (3050m/10004ft)

After breakfast, we will take a short drive to Punakha. We will stop at the Dochula Pass which is a hill station with impressive 108 stupas. Dochula Pass is a famous viewpoint that offers some impressive views of the Himalayan Mountains. We will start our hike from the Dochula pass toward Lumtsese with the beautiful diverse vegetation and wildflowers on our trail. We will drive to Punakha from Punakha where we will spend the night.

Day 04: Punakha to Paro via Wangdi (2250m/ 7321ft)

The main part of the day will be our visit to the “Temple of Fertility”. We will take a car to Paro

from where we will hike toward the Temple of Fertility. The temple was built by a controversial monk named Lama Drukpa Kuenley in the 15th century. People had the belief that the temple blesses fertility, which became popular and eventually led to the temple’s popularity. We will spend the remaining day strolling around Paro Valley.

Day 05: Hike to Taksang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest, 2250m/ 7321ft) and Paro Valley tour

We will ascend up to the Taksang Monastery, Bhutan’s most sacred monastery. It was said that Buddhist Guru Padmasambhava used to meditate on this holy site where the monastery was built in 1692 later. The place is surrounded by hanging prayer flags. You’ll also see “TSA-as” which contains ashes of the dead on the ledges near the monastery. You’ll need to leave your shoes, bags, cameras, cell phones, and other electronic appliances at the gate while entering the holy premises of the Taksang Monastery. This is the soul-soothing experience of being inside the Tiger’s nest. We will return to Paro after spending quality time in the Taksang Monastery. Spend the night in Paro.
