Trip Overview

Bardiya National Park (968km2) is the largest wildlife reserve in Southern Terai belt of Nepal. Established in 1988, Bardia National Park protects variety of flora and fauna, including rare animals found only in the region.

Previously, the region of Bardia was used by the Royal families and guests for hunting purposes. It also briefly served as a part of British India. Since 1988, it has been preserving the dwindling species of rare flora and fauna, particularly Royal Bengal Tiger and its other prey species. Today, it enclaves variety of wildlife, including endangered One-horned Rhino, Wild elephants, Swamp deer, Black buck, Mugger crocodiles and Gharial, Gangetic Dolphins as well as more than 30 different mammals and over 400 species of birds.

Bardia National park is a haven for eco-tourists and wildlife enthusiasts. The chances of Royal Bengal Tiger sighting in Bardia is almost 80% depending on season.
