During the trek, have you considered some easy tricks and hacks that will help you make your trip easier? Let's dig up some details for a few expert trekking tips that might help us further in the trek. Trekking in Nepal has been carried out for many years now. Climb up the biggest mountain with ease, warm yourself up, and take short paths with the tips and treks that we got from experienced trekkers. Here are some trekking tips explained.

Don't forget to take a light rope, clothesline, and clips

You might know that the weather during your trek is so unpredictable. There could be rainfall in a mountainous area without any warning. Rainfalls are heavy during summer/monsoon from June to October and light during the winter season from November to April. Getting drenched during the rain could make your clothes wet. Another factor for wet clothes could be your sweat if it's warm outdoors.

Carrying wet clothes due to the rain or excessive sweating could be a huge burden, making your trek more difficult than it needs to be. Wet clothes may not just be heavy to carry but could also expose you faster to coldness compromising your safety during the trek.

We cannot overstate the importance to dry clothes if it turns out wet during your trek. For this taking a light rope, clothesline, and a clip are important which is not something that most people suggest carrying during your trek. Taking some clothesline and clip to hang up your cloth to let them dry out by wind or air is the best option.

A recent survey among trekkers pointed out that most people don't prefer to take multiple clothes during the trip. Instead, they carry a maximum of two to three t-shirts which they change by washing and drying out in the wind. So, it would be wise to carry clips, and light rope to dry out your clothes. So, Don't forget the clothesline and clips.

Your Sun Cap must have Flaps

Everyone takes a Sun Cap during the trek but besides the sun cap taking the flaps is also equally important. Flaps will help to reduce your sunburn by almost 80% more than usual. Those people who have very sensitive skin will get sunburned within a few hours in the mountains. For such people, they can start using the Sun Cap with flaps that would protect their skin.

Besides the face, the flaps are aimed to protect the neck as well as the back. Most people neglect the tan they get during the trek. Not to forget, Don't stop wearing sunscreen with the sun cap with flaps because this is the most important to protect your skin.

Take two Trekking Poles instead of one

Most trekkers often speak about taking two trekking poles instead of one. They say that two trekking poles help to balance their walk much easier. As the path during the trek is very uneven, carrying a heavy weight and walking along the difficult road is quite a difficult task. Hence, taking two poles makes the walk comfortable with the balance.

Taking two trekking poles will not only make your walk easier but also give comfort to your knees and thighs. The long journey needs rest and a slow walk that can be paced up a little bit with the comfortable trekking poles. There is no difference in carrying a stick or two during your transportation as it will be hung in your bag rather than carried.

Take Micro-Steps during climbing up the hill

Choose to go micro-steps while going upwards in the climb. It is easier to take deliberate steps while you go upwards to get the hang of it and once you start the micro-climb you won't be tired until you complete the trek.

Before starting, Do you have any idea about micro-climbing? Take a 2-inch gap between the heel of the front leg and the toe of the back leg. During this when the back leg has to move forward, you should repeat the step. Keep a distance of 2 inches maximum between the heel of the front leg and the toe of the back leg.

While doing this you might realize that you will have a slight rise in your breathing. If you notice your breath is slightly more speed than your normal breathing then you must reduce the pace of your step even further. By doing the Micro-climb, you can do an entire pass crossing without stopping once. Surprisingly, this slow micro-step is faster than your normal walk and easier also. This is because the normal walk requires a slight rest for breathtaking but this micro-walk won't require any walking. Though some people feel Micro-step is not easy but your instinct will make you take longer strides.

Use Betadine to clean water

Most of you may know about Betadine. Betadine is the most cheapest and used water purifier. It is the simplest purifier that is most effective for killing germs and bacteria. During the trek, it is very common for most people to catch the flu which may be due to the change in weather and temperature. You must take care that you don’t get ill by any chance.

Getting the betadine solution is very easy, as it is easily available in medical stores. The four drops of the solution in a liter of water help to purify it. Throughout the trek, you will find multiple water taps to fill in your bottles. For this, it is better to use the purifying solution than to ask if the water is good or not. Being prepared for further actions is always the best way to tackle problems as said, “Prevention is better than cure.”

Note: You may dislike the smell of betadine but it is the best disinfectant.

Take Water Purifying tablets to purify the drinking water

Getting water in high areas is sometimes a risky task. Hence, it is always good to carry a water bottle. Carrying a water bottle for further use will help you to drink water time and again because being hydrated is the one most important thing you should not forget during the trek. Though Water may be available often we will have doubts about its purity. For this, the best solution is to take away some purifying tablets with you during the trek which will help us to purify water for drinking.

Some medical stores sell water purifiers as solutions as well as tablets. It is best to take tablets with you than the solution as the tablets are easier to carry in our trekking bag and use. Putting the tablet in the personal water bottle with a water bottle is the top choice to stay hydrated and healthy during the trek.

Convert your shoes into sandals

During the trek, you should try not to carry a heavy weight on your shoulder as possible as you can. Walking the long roads with a heavyweight on your shoulder is not an easy job, hence, reduce the weight as much as you can. We also surveyed one of the trekkers about his experience with shoes and sandals during the trek. He mentioned about a simple hack of converting his shoes to sandals or slip-on when not trekking helped him a lot.

He added that this also helps to reduce the weight on the trek. He further explained that he untied the top three rows of his shoelaces, loosely tied them into a double knot then converted his shoes into a slip-on. This process is very helpful and tricky. You must adopt this because we will be needing the slip-on multiple times during the stay besides the trek. Shoes will work for both options.

Taking an example, during your stay, if you want to go to the washroom or the kitchen, you can convert your shoes into a slip-on. This is an easy hack as a single pair of shoes can be converted into sandals as well as trekking shoes. Wearing the shoes simply like a sandal without any socks makes you protected from cold, and water and also gives you two benefits from one. So, No More Sandals and heavyweight during the trek.

Avoid Cotton Clothes during the trek

One of the major trekking tips you will need is that don't wear cotton clothes on the trek. Avoid cotton clothes from t-shirts, and socks to vests. Nothing made of cotton should be taken because you might be aware that cotton absorbs too much sweat and water but releases too little of it. Due to this, it keeps the water absorbed. This is a huge disadvantage during the trek. The cotton clothes will be absorbing the sweat and water from you but later releases too little of it that will leave you cold and miserable.

Naturally, the wet clothes pass their wetness to other clothes. Sometimes, slightly wet socks pass on the wetness to the shoes. This causes the inner shoe to be wet, which might be unnoticed for a long time but may cause blisters, starts to stink, and sometimes make your feet sore. This is a very uneasy situation during the trek. Hence, the best solution is to avoid cotton and the type of clothes that doesn't release water. Most people love cotton clothes. If you are also a cotton lover, you must avoid cotton clothes during the trek. It's better to use synthetic clothes that will work best while walking a long way.

Take insurance that will be taking care of your medical expenses

Taking medical insurance with you will help your expenses if you may have to cover some. Sometimes we may need to use some emergency services and medical bits of help which might cost a high value, hence, taking medical insurance will help us get to save money by letting the insurance cover it.

Emergency Helicopter service, medical bits of help, oxygen help, and other medical helps that you will need during the trek can be chosen to be covered by the insurance. Take the insurance documents with you and use the services with the insurance coverage so that your little expenses during the trek will be saved.
