Tibet is protected by the great Himalayan chain in the south and west, and even more inhospitable mountains to the north and east, has haunted the ambition of travelers for centuries, and it is only in the last twenty years a handful of travelers have managed to penetrate its remote secrets. The allure of the remoteness, inaccessibility and the great mystery are still enough to attract most trekkers in this land.
