Deatil Itinerary for Mt. Everest Base Camp Expedition - 17 Nights/ 18 Days Trip

Day 01:
Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Welcome to Himalayan country of Nepal. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan intl. airport our representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. After time to get refreshed, evening you'll meet and transfer for welcome dinner in one of the finest typical Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu and briefing about your trip and overnight at Hotel.

Day 02:
Kathmandu valley sightseeing & trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Today, morning we will ready after your breakfast to head on for our guided day trip to world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley and visit the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. We take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrine of Shiva temples on the subcontinent which is place of thousand of devotees, Saddhus (holy men/Baba), and can be seen the cremating body most of the times in the holy riverbank of Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take a time to exploring surrounding area and visit Bouddhanath stupa an another pilgrimage centre which is most popular and important place for Buddhist. You can explore with rounding prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise.

After your lunch at Bouddha visit Swoyambhunath stupa also known as monkey temple covering wide range of area with highest point of Kathmandu valley and enjoy the 360 degrees of valley view. After exploring the surrounding areas visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square which is old royal palace of Kathmandu and can be seen lot of temple, architectures and Kumari (living goddess) and walk in a freak street and late afternoon back to hotel and evening briefing about your trip, what is your responsibility, what to do and doesn't in the trek? Introduce with our fellow trekking staff and chances to ask remaining question you may have and remaining time simply relax at the hotel

Day 03:
Fly to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft) & trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft), 3-4 hrs walk
This morning you'll be transferred to domestic airport to fly to Lukla. It takes 40 minutes scenic flight to Lukla airport (2,800m/9,184ft) and you will have time to stroll around, while the guide sort and divide the load baggage to be carried by porters. Guide will manage the lunch place depending upon the time of arrival at Lukla. We start our trek further to Phakding passing some Sherpa villages and farm. We follow the trail to Dudhkoshi River and further down on route to Phakding. The walk is gradual and most of the way, with few ups from Thado khola, where you can have a superb view of Kusum-Kangaru (6,369m/20,890ft) crossing a short suspension bridge, from here after a short climb brings us to the Ghat village, another 1 ½ hr of gradual walk brings you to Phakding village for the overnight camp and stroll around the village for local knowledge.

Day 04:
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft), 5-6 hrs walk
The trek start in the morning and after crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh-Kosi the walk is pleasant with few short uphill and downhill and re-crossing the same river again with magnificent view of Mt. Thamserku (6,608m/21,675ft) from the Benkar village. Trek continuing crossing the bridges and reaches at Monjo where is entrance gate of the Sagarmatha National Park, where your trekking permit checked and keeps the record of all trekkers going to and from this place including the local trekking staff as well.

When enter the National park boundary we descend and a gradual walk brings us to the suspension bridge over the Bhote-Koshi river, after the bridge Jorsalle village is reached, the last village till Namche Bazaar, from here the walk is pleasant on the river bed till the last bridge over the Imjatse river is reached, from here the walk is along the winding uphill path all the way to Namche Bazaar, with magnificent view of Kwangde peak and it other sister peaks towards east with Kusum kangaru on the back as you climb higher, view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse and the closer view of Tawache peak can be seen from some part on the way to Namche. Finally we reach at colorful houses called Namche Bazzar main gate of Khumbu region and we overnight stay at the camp.

Day 05:
Acclimatization day
You have full day leisure or visit Everest View Point hotel for wonderful panoramic view or stroll around the market, if Saturday can be seen many people in Saturday market for shopping to fulfill their daily needs and only one shopping market in the surrounding areas. Also you can visit Sherpa Museum as well a great place to learn Sherpa culture and history of mountaineering and stroll back to camp for overnight.

Day 06:
Trek to Tyangboche (3,867m/12684ft), 5-6 hrs walk
After stroll around the Namche area, today we refreshed and fairly easy to walk further on. Our walk follows on the gradual trail with few short up and downs overlooking magnificent view of the great giant snow peaks from Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kwangde peak after a pleasant walk of two hours to a small place at Shanasa, from here the trial descend to Imjatse river at Phungithanga, a small settlement with couple of teahouses. The trail leads up hill through the forested path of silver fir, blue pines, rhododendron and some few magnolia and birch trees. After two hrs hardly walk to get to Tyangboche one of the most beautiful place in the Himalaya the first thing that comes to your eye is the big Monastery or Gumba, then the large field with campsites and teahouses, lodges beneath the towering majestic beautiful peak Ama Dablam, Everest, Mt. Lhotse and Lhotse Shar towards north east and more peaks all around you. We will pitch our camp near monastery or stay teahouse.

Day 07:
Trek to Pheriche (4,200m/13,776ft), 5-6 hrs walk
Today start our trek with pleasant walk and descend through a forest of birch, fir, juniper and rhododendron and coming to lovely spot at Deboche 3,650 m with magnificent view of mountains and past the long prayer mani wall, the path is gradual up to the Pangboche village, from here onwards the lush vegetation and tree lines vanishes, we left the Imjatse valley and trek north west part of Pheriche. The great view of the mighty peaks of Ama Dablam, Nuptse and Lhotse with view of the eastern snow capped mountains including the Island peak or Imjatse 6,189m, which is a popular peak amongst all the trekking peaks in Nepal. We will stay in camp at Pheriche and it is windy valley as well as the gateway to Chola pass.

Day 08:
Acclimatization day at Pheriche
Today we rest for acclimatization at Pheriche valley, you may have full day rest or there are some places where can go for a day walk like trek to Dingboche is worth while which takes approx. 2 hours from Pheriche, towards east with in the Imjatse Valley, although the trek is gradual, however you can feel the thin air as the altitude gains slowly coming towards Dingboche and also have opportunity to climb up higher view up to Nagarjuna view point from where overlooking superb view of the snow capped peaks and glaciers of Lhotse, Ama-Dablam and Imja glacier, Chhukung valley is the last settlement in eastern Khumbu region and after enjoy stroll back to camp for overnight.

Day 09:
Trek to Lobuche (4,928m/16164 ft), 5-6 hrs walk
Today the trail diverts towards north, the path is flat for about an hour as you come to bottom part of Thukla from here the trail is gentle uphill and today's walk offers beautiful view of the scenic mountains. After a pleasant walk through the ridge will reach at Thukla, an hour steep up brings you to the top, where you can view Mt. Pumori and other peaks west of Everest, the spot here is good place for a few minutes break after the strenuous climb, close to this spot you can also see a number of memorial of the unfortunate climbers monuments, who died in expeditions around the mountain of this region. We trek continues to the Lobuche an hour for overnight at camp.

Day 10:
Trek to Gorakshep (5,160m/16,929ft) & Everest base camp (5,316m/17,437ft), 7-8 hrs walk
We'll be walk early in the morning towards the Everest base camp. After 2 hrs walking in a windy and rocky path will arrive at Gorekshep for our overnight. This trails offer the wonderful view with Mt. Pumori, Mt. Nuptse, other peaks, Everest Base Camp, Kalapathar and below the Gorekshep valley including top of the world. After hotel check in our adventure, continues towards Everest Base Camp and to the Khumbu Ice-fall, the path from here can be misleading, follow the lead Sherpa, every year the trail changes due to the movements of the glacier, the walk is quite strenuous due to the high altitude and thin air, the walk passes through over rocky dunes and moraine and streams, till you reach the base camp. Everest Base Camp is lively with commotion during the high expedition season. It takes 2-3 hrs to get to base camp and after a grand time here retrace the journey back to Gorekshep for the overnight at camp.

Day 11:
Kalapathar (5,550m/18,204ft) hike and stroll back to Pheriche (4,200m/13,776ft), 6-7 hrs walk
Early morning our journey continue steep climb to the top after 2 hour walk on our pace. After reaching the top, you will feel beaming as you achieve the moment that you been dreaming, since the beginning of the journey. Top of Kalapathar is a small rocky peak on the southwest ridge of Mt. Pumori, the view from here is beyond imagination as the Everest looks amazing, the panoramic view from this spot is something to cherish, and you feel its worth the hard climb up to here and to feel at the top of the world, and can be seen to the south Khumbu glacier sweeps below you, and you can also see the Everest Base camp down below on the moraine of Khumbu glacier and lot of picturesque scenery. Stroll back to Gorekshep and re-track to Pheriche for overnight stop at our camp or teahouse.

Day 12:
Trek to Phortse village. 4-5 hrs walk
We will take the high trail out of Pangboche to Phortse. The seldom trekked route contours along the hillside through yak grazing and farmlands, which slowly give way to a stretch of cliff bands and the wild Himalayan Tahr (goats) that, inhabit them. This is a great place for Himalayan wildlife and can be seen most of rare wildlife along the way. Rhodondrens, fur, Pine and Juniper trees are the main featured tree of this area. You may frequently see the Musk Deer, Empheyn Pheasant (Danfe, national birds of Nepal) and best habitat areas of Snow Leopard. We will camp or teahouse at the middle of the village and enjoy chatting with locals Sherpa's.

Day 13:
Trek to Khumjung via Mongla hill, 4-5 hrs
A steady uphill climb brings us to a "Mong La" or pass of over 13,000 feet. With a small teashop and great view, this is a nice place to sit and relax for a while. Further on we trek downhill to hidden valley called Khumjung village, probably the biggest village of the areas and visit Hillary school established by Late Sir Edmond Hillary and visit Monastery with Yeti Head. You may have chance to meet many famous climbers in Khumjung & Khunde valley where is a big hospital running by charity. We will camp at near Hillary school.

Day 14:
Trek to Thame, 5-6 hrs
Trekking west up the Nanagapo Tsangpo Valley we will camp at the village of Thame, the sight of the Mani Rimdu ceremony each autumn. This valley drains the Nanga La, the pass crossing into Tibet which has been the traditional trading route between these two countries for centuries. This place locates with great view and most of the famous climbers from this village. This village called village of Snow Leopard.

Day 15:
Trek back to Namche, 4-5 hrs
After a great Himalayan experience at Thame we descending from Thame to Namche is an easy day of rolling hills and switchbacks as we cruise back down to the trading center of the Khumbu.

Day 16:
Trek to Lukla, 6-7 hrs
From the bridge over the Dudh Kosi, we trek back to the airstrip and our camp at Lukla. Tonight we will have a final dinner with the Sherpa staff, who by now has become great friends.

Day 17:
Fly back to Kathmandu
The flight time to Kathmandu, are schedule for morning normally, because of the wind in the afternoon, sometime the flight time can be delayed due to bad weather and other reason beyond our command. Anyway we will fly back to Kathmandu and your guide will transfer to hotel. You may have time to relax after long journey and take back your breath and rest at your hotel.

Day 18:
Leisure at Kathmandu and trip concludes
Should weather prevent us from flying, which often happens in the mountains, this is our alternative fly day? Otherwise this day in Kathmandu will be used to sightseeing and enjoy the hospitality of Nepal before going home. Our group's final dinner will be this evening (next day breakfast and this night accommodation included).
  • Sagarmatha National Park (1,148 square Kilometers)

- Location: Sagarmatha National Park is located to the Northeast of Kathmandu in the Khumbu region of Nepal. The park includes the highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest Including Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyo, Pumori, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kwangde, Kangtega and Gyachung Kang are the main higher mountain. This park has been listed of World Heritage Sites in 1979 by UNESCO.

- Feature: Sagarmatha National Park is geologically located in the greater Himalayan ranges with highest mountains and valleys. The vegetation includes pine and hemlock forests at lower altitudes and fir, juniper, birch and rhododendron are in the alpine plant communities and bare rock and snow.
The celebrated bloom of rhododendrons occurs during spring (April and May) although other flora is mostly colorful during the monsoon season (June to August).
