Kanchenjunga Extreme Trek - 28 Nights/
29 Days Trip
Day 01:
Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Welcome to Himalayan country of Nepal. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan intl.
airport our representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel
in Kathmandu. After time to get refreshed, evening you'll meet and transfer for
welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu
and briefing about your trip and overnight at Hotel.
Day 02:
Kathmandu valley sightseeing & trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Today, morning we will ready after your breakfast to head on for our guided day
trip to world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley and visit the highlights of Kathmandu
and the surrounding areas. We take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus
temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrine of Shiva temples on the
subcontinent which is place of thousand of devotees, Saddhus (holy men/Baba),
and can be seen the cremating body most of the times in the holy riverbank of
Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take a time to exploring
surrounding area and visit Bouddhanath stupa an another pilgrimage centre which
is most popular and important place for Buddhist. You can explore with rounding
prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise. After
your lunch at Bouddha visit Swoyambhunath stupa also known as monkey temple covering
wide range of area with highest point of Kathmandu valley and enjoy the 360 degrees
of valley view. After exploring the surrounding areas visit to Kathmandu Durbar
Square which is old royal palace of Kathmandu and can be seen lot of temple, architectures
and Kumari (living goddess) and walk in a freak street and late afternoon back
to hotel and evening briefing about your trip, what is your responsibility, what
to do and doesn't in the trek? Introduce with our fellow trekking staff and chances
to ask remaining question and remaining time explore the surrounding areas or
simply relax at the hotel.
Day 03:
Kathmandu to Hile (1,850m/6,068ft), 45 minutes flight, 4 hrs drive
This morning 45 minutes flight takes you to the Biratnagar, a south-eastern region
of Nepal and an industrial city in the lowlands of eastern Nepal, and we'll drive
4 hrs get to Hile bazzar and one of the best scenic ridge above the Dhankuta,
domain the Tibetan style and we camp here for tonight. After arrival it is nice
place to walk around and explore the surrounding areas. Tomba, a local wine is
very famous made by millet, can get in local restaurants.
Day 04:
Hile to Shiduwa (2,020m/6,626ft), 4-5 hr walk
Today, after the morning breakfast we start our first day trekking along a ridge
to Buranse Danda towards the Tamur River. You may enjoy your first day walk with
scenic beauties and local area. We will arrive at a ridge of Shiduwa for overnight
stay in tented camp.
Day 05:
Shiduwa to Doorpani (2,890m/9,479ft), 5-6 hrs walk
After camp breakfast we are continuing our journey to Doorpani. We walk through
the forest to Chitre and may have chance to see wildlife surrounding area. The
scenic view of Mt. Makalu and Chamlang are outstanding and main highlights of
the day. Finally we'll arrive at hamlet of Doorpani passing through the rhododendron
forest and we'll stay in overnight at camp.
Day 06:
Door Pani to Gupha Pokhari (2,950m/9,676ft), 5-6 hrs walk
We start our trek this morning with a gently climb in a rhododendron forest and
reach at the ridge of hill and we continuing down to the village of Tongise Phedi.
We are continuing our walk to the Chanki where local used for summer pasture and
further walk to grassy fields with a view of Makalu ranges and arrive at Mangal
Barahi pass where from can be seen spectacular view of massif Kanchenjunga range.
This pass has decorated with lot of Mani stone (Secret Buddhist carved stone)
and descent to Gupha Pokhari for the overnight camp.
Day 07:
Gupha Pokhari to Nesum (2,600m/8,528ft), 5-6 hrs walk
Today, our walk starts to cross the pass at (3,025m/9,922ft) and descend through
the dense forest to get to the Gurja Gaun. After this village we continue our
journey towards the Nesum where we will stop for the overnight. A great view of
Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Jannu behind us, enjoy the scenic beauty from your camp.
Day 08:
Nesum to Taplejung (1,824m/5,983ft), 5-6 hrs walk
After camp breakfast we start our journey towards the Taplejung which is a central
hub of the surrounding areas. We descend to Dovan through the scenic landscapes
and passing through the paddy field to get to Dovan (Dovan means confluence),
and trek to Tamor River. We further walk to Taplejung for the overnight and remaining
day explores the surrounding town.
Day 09:
Taplejung to Chirwa (1,500m/4,935ft), 5-6 hrs walk
We start our pleasant walk up the Tamor River and reach at valley which is inhabitant
by the ethic Limbu sect. one of the popular sect in the north eastern part of
Nepal. They are the descendants from the Kirati warriors who ruled some kingdom
of Nepal before the modern Nepal says Nepalese history.
We walk further to Chirwa, a small town with few houses and local shops and nearby
we'll camp for overnight.
Day 10:
Chirwa to Sokathum (1,600m/5,248ft), 5-6 hrs walk
Today, we start our journey through the Tamor and reaches at Tapethok and we'll
cross the bridge over the Simbuwa Khola which is formed by the Yalung glacier.
We start our climb to the ridge to join the Ghunsa khola valley. We'll continuing
our walk further to Sokathum by the river bank where we'll stay overnight at the
camp.
Day 11:
Sokathum to Amjilasha (2,490m/8,167ft), 5-6 hrs walk
We start our walk through the river gorge and follow the up stream and climb
steeply to the top from where you can enjoys the view of Ghunsa khola below where
we passed the trail. After the top we again descend to the small village settled
in mountain side called Amilasha village for the overnight stop. Enjoy walking
around the typical surrounding village and night at our regular camp.
Day 12:
Amjilassa to Kyapra (2300m/7544ft), 5-6 hrs walk
After the breakfast start your walk with all crews steeply uphill to get to the
Kyapra. Lunch will be serving at the middle part en-route to Kyapra. Today you'll
have a real climbing the middle hill and quite tiring after a long walk. This
place is settle in the terrace hills above the Ghunsa River and we'll enjoy the
scenic beauties of the landscapes.
Day 13:
Kyapra to Ghunsa (3,550m/11,670ft), 5-6 hrs walk
We'll have a pleasant walk firstly descend to Ghunsa River again and climb the
Phere village from right bank of the Ghunsa River. We'll walk further to Ghunsa
village through the forested path of rhododendron and climb easily to the ridge
before descending the River again and crossing after the wooden bridge will get
to the Ghunsa village. Enjoy your evening time to explore the surrounding villages
and overnight at camp.
Day 14:
Ghunsa to Khambachen (4,040m/13,251ft), 5-6 hrs walk
We are reaching at the alpine zone from where we can be seen the Jannu glacier
view. We walk further with a glimpse of the Mt. Jannu. Enjoy the days with a Mountain
View and feel the difficulty walk in the high place. You may feel the short breathing
while walking and suggest drinking water sufficiently. We will arrive at mountain
sides at our camp to Khambachen after descending from the ridge and overnight
at camp.
Day 15:
Acclimatization day
You'll have full day rest for acclimatization after long days and even pleasure
to be wild and far from the city area. One of the best opportunity be a way from
the modern technology and has been so far and enjoy with a scenic beauty with
refreshing environment and enjoy the day with crews.
Day 16:
Khambachen to Lhonak (4,790m/15,711), 6-7 hrs walk
We shall now start our walk with real adventures to climb to the edge of Kanchenjunga
glacier after a long walk. You can enjoy the view and lot of picturesque scenery
all the way to Lhonak. During the walk feel the adventurous and cross the Lhonak
glacier before arrive at Lhonak camp for the overnight. This place offers the
best view of Mera peak (6,476m/21,242ft) a famous trekking peak in Makalu region.
Day 17:
Excursion day at Pangpema (5,140m/16,860ft)
Today we'll walk for the day excursion at pangpema which is a superrb view point
of this area. From here you can see the excellent view of the towering peak of
Kanchenjunga and more scenic view of the surrounding area. After the breathtaking
view and picturesque scenic massif mountains stroll back to Khambachen for the
overnight.
Day 18:
Khambachen to the Passes, 6-7 hr walk
Today we have most challenging day cross over two passes as Lapsang la pass (5180m/16990ft)
and Mirgin pass (4500m/14760ft). Depends on a weather condition, we'll decide
on the spot, what we can do. This will be the tuff and long day as we reach at
our camp to High camp.
Day 19:
Mirgin High Camp or rest (4,800m/16,055ft)
Today, we'll have full day rest here. Depends on a weather condition this will
be the extra day to immerse you and get power back and reserve for coming days.
If we be able to cross one pass last day we continue our next pass today and if
already success to crossed two passes then you'll have full day rest.
Day 20:
High Camp to Ramche (4,580m/15,022ft), 4-5 hr walk
Today, after breakfast we descend our trek to the Simbuwa khola valley and further
walk to Ramche where we'll have overnight. On the way you will have chance to
see the picturesque scenery and walk o your pace. Feel the Himalayan refreshment
after the two crosses. Ramche is situated ona broad, flat ablation zone.
Day 21:
Ramche to Tseram (3,770m/12,403ft), 4-5 hrs walk
We'll walk to day trip to explore the ablation valley near Yalung glacier and
best view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. There is a chorten for the view point from here
we can have a magnificent view of the south face of massif Kanchenjunga and the
range. A frozen lake, crystal clear streams and views of Kokthan, Rathong and
Kabru are the highlights of this walk and we stroll back to Tseram for the overnight
stop, where the night-time temperature plummets.
Day 22:
Tseram to Torontan (3080m/10,102ft), 5-6 hrs walk
This morning we'll trek down to passing through the glacier view and getting
the sub tropic zone. We are walk on a forested path of rhododendron and pine forest.
On the way down you'll have best view of scenic the snow-capped giants behind
and of the massive snout of the Yalung Glacier and after reach at Torontan overnight
at camp.
Day 23:
Torontan to Yamphudin (1,635m/5,379ft), 5-6 hr walk
Today, as our journey we again descend to Yamphudin, which is a hamlet with mixed
community of different sects are the Sherpa, Limbu, Rai and Gurung. It is a real
ethnic village after Ghunsa. Explore the village to know the real lifestyle of
ethnic group in the Himalaya. After exploring the area stroll back to camp.
Day 24:
Yamphudin to Ponphe Dhara (1,680m/5,510ft), 4-5 hrs walk
As our continuing journey, today we descend the Kabel River through the scenic
landscapes. After the Kabel Khola we'll further walk to climb to Ponphe for the
overnight stop.
Day 25:
Ponphe Dhara to Pha Khola, 5-6 hrs walk
Today, we start to climb to a ridge then descend through a series of side valleys
past Phudin village to Kesawa. The trail continues to ascend to a Gurung settlement
at Bhanjyang. From here the trail circule a ridge and descends to the Limbu village
of Khunjari, where we camp on the banks of Pha Khola and overnight at camp.
Day26:
Pha Khola to Taplejung, 3-4 hrs walk
Today, we'll have the last day after long trek and an easy walking down to the
Taplejung and overnight at camp. As a last day we celebrate the dinner with crew
member and enjoy the evening after completion the long and adventurous trek and
overnight at camp.
Day 27:
Taplejung to Kathmandu
Today, fly to Kathmandu via Biratnagar or direct flight depends on the flight
schedule and season. We will come to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel and
remaining time simply rest and relax at the hotel.
Day 28:
Leisure at Kathmandu
This pleasant day you may have full day at leisure and either relax at hotel
or explore the Thamel and overnight at hotel.
Day 29:
Departure from Kathmandu
Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family,
friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence
any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you'll
be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your
onwards destination.
