Trek to Rara Lake - 16 Nights/
17 Days Trip
Day 01:
Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft):
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan intl. airport our representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. At the evening you’ll transfer for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant with the cultural & musical programs in the heart of Kathmandu and briefing about your Rara Lake trip and overnight at Hotel.
Day 02:
Kathmandu valley sightseeing & Rara Lake trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft):
Kathmandu, being a historical and cultural heart of Nepal, is a popular destination for tourists, trekkers and adventure seekers. The city presents a wonderful mixture of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence in the Valley. After breakfast at the hotel you will be leave for full day sightseeing tour to the world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley with English speaking city tour guide by private vehicle. You will be transfer to the pilgrimage sites of the Hindus temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrine of Shiva. Thousands of devotees, Saddhus (holy men/Baba) are surrounded here, and you can see the cremating system of the Hindus most of the times in the holy riverbank of Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take a time to exploring surrounding areas. After visit Pashupatinath you will be transfer to the Bouddhanath stupa a pilgrimage centre which is the most popular and important place for Buddhist. You can explore with rounding prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise. After your lunch at Bouddhanath visit another important place for Buddhist, Swoyambhunath stupa; also known as monkey temple covering wide range of area with highest point of Kathmandu valley and enjoy the 360 degrees of valley view. After exploring this spot you will transfer to Kathmandu Durbar Square which is the old royal palace of Kathmandu and can be seen lot of temple, Nepali traditional architectures and another attraction of this place is the Kumari (the living goddess). After finished your sightseeing trip you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03:
Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj & transfer to the Hotel:
As per the flight schedule for Nepalgunj you will be transfer to the domestic airport for one and half hour scenic flight to Nepalgunj. We will transfer you to the hotel and rest of the time explore the surrounding areas for your knowledge. Overnight.
Day 04:
Fly Nepalgunj to Jumla & trek to Chala Chaur (2900m):
After an early breakfast transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Jumla, a super scenic flight of 30minutes brings you at Jumla over the Himalayan foothills. On reaching Jumla, we interact with our Rara Lake trekking crew and we begin our trekking after lunch. We transverse northwards out of the Jumla Valley. Our first day adventure begins with an hour downhill walk through the village of Micha bearing a small walled enclosure and a number of Buddhist stupas. These stupas were erected in memory of important dignitaries of the region and date back to late 15th century. The trails further leads to rock-strewn path and at last ends at Chala Chaur, our campsite.
Day 05:
Cross a Pass (3500m):
Today, we leave Chala Chaur after breakfast and follow a trail wending along path of steep stones. In the course of ascending, we cross through birch, pine forests and grassy pass at approx 3500m. Kanjiroba becomes visible in the east with its twin peaks towering over the adjacent area. Continuously, we descend as the trail opens into lush forests. After trekking for hours, we finally stop at a suitable campsite in the meadows nearby some shepherd's huts.
Day 06:
Trek via Sinja [2440m] to Botan (2600m):
Today we walk along the Jaljala Khola through forests of pines and terraced farmland. En route the trail passes the 300 year old Kanaksundari Temple. The temple holds immense religious significance for Hindus. The route further bends along the main river. Crossing a thick plank bridge, we finally descent into Sinja village. Sinja village rests upon a small alluvial plain on the west bank of the clear Lah Gad River, also called the Sinja Khola. Sinja was once the ancient capital of the Malla kings. There are stones lying along the trail that foretell the history of Malla dynasty. After lunch, we head to Botan, passes through a spectacular gorge and finally reach at village of Botan where we set camps for overnight stay.
Day 07:
Trek to Rara Park border:
Today after breakfast, we follow the trail along Ghatta Khola amid the unparalled beauty of nature. This route winds up into terraced farmland and beautiful valley. Soon we find ourselves within the territory of Rara Lake National Park. We come across small village and police post on the way. We can spare some time to exploring the beauty of the park or simply doing whatever we feel like. We camp at Gorosingha.
Day 08:
Trek to Rara Lake (3062m):
After breakfast we start our trip ascending to the Ghurchi Mara ridge for one and half hour. The trail is not that strenuous as it looks like. On reaching the crest of the ridge, an excellent panorama sparkles to the north flaunting irresistible beauty and charm. As the trail descends, Rara Lake becomes visible on the northeast. The trail further passes through bamboo and birch forests before crossing the Khatyar Khola. We then follow the river upstream to Rara Lake where we savor the most fascinating trekking experience amid the beauty of nature. Over night camp.
Day 09:
Explore day at Rara:
Today is the pleasant day free from the hassle of packing and chance to make friends with the locals who have hardly seen westerners for ages. We can climb up to the wooden observation tower behind the post office for fine views of the lake and surrounding hills. We can even visit the National Park Headquarters. Swimming is allowed in the lake and it is piercingly refreshing.
Day 10:
Explore day at Rara:
Today we have another pleasant day free from the hassle of packing. We have chance to explore more area, including the old village of Rara.
Day 11:
Trek via Jhyari (2630m) to River camp:
Today we depart from Rara Lake, following the terraced farmlands; we enter the village of Jhyari. As we approach Dhauligar Khola valley, we find a suitable camp site near the river bank. From here we have chances to witness an exotic charisma of nature and outstanding panorama of snow-capped mountain peaks.
Day 12:
Across Ghurchi Lagna pass [3450m] to Chautha (2770m):
After breakfast we follow the Dhauligar Khola route, we pass through farmland and then enter the village of Pina where we can see the police post and some small hotels. We continue climbing to the Ghurchi Lagna pass and come across several small chortens, alpine-like pastures, walnut groves and a narrow valley. Finally, the steep slope guides us into the village of Chautha where we conclude our day trek. Overnight at camp.
Day 13:
Trek to Tharamara (3280m):
Today we follow the northern bank of the Sinja Khola trail passes through the massive overhanging rock at Kabra. Silaji found in this area is the source of the important medicinal mineral which is believed to cure almost anything. The route then passes through the villages of Bumra and Nyawre, before climbing to the pasture at Tharamara. Overnight camp at Tharamara.
Day 14:
Trek to Jumla:
Our last day of trekking begins by slowly and gradually the trail gently sloping upwards, we march towards Jumla through lovely valley from high alpine pastures. After reaching Jumla, we can spend our time to the busy market town or simply pursuing whatever we feel like.
Day 15:
Fly to Kathmandu via Nepaljung:
Early morning 30 minutes sweeping wonderful flight to Nepalgunj over the Himalayan foothills, overlooking stunning views of the snow capped peaks. On arrival at Nepalgunj depending upon the connecting flight schedule to Kathmandu. If it’s in the afternoon we will have time, few hours for refreshment in the comfort of the Hotel at Nepalgunj. We then connect with flight back to Kathmandu and received and transfer to your hotel.
Day 16:
Leisure at Kathmandu:
This pleasant day you may have full day at leisure for your individual activities and either relax at hotel or explore the Thamel and overnight at hotel.
Day 17:
Departure from Kathmandu:
Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you’ll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.
