Trip Overview
During the trekking at higher place we will reaches at Muktinath from where we can see the wonderful panoramic views of the upper mustang as well as highest mountains range of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and far west to the Dolpo part. Throughout the trek you'll see close up views of Dhaulagiri and it's icefall, Annapurna and the Kaligandaki Valley also be able to take a relaxing natural hot springs at Tatopani and you may have explore the local lifestyle, culture, climate and topography. This may have good choice for anyone who are looking for introductory trek on a limited timescale and a good choice to trek with family.

Each evening is spent as per your interest for reading or chatting with the fellow trekkers and crew members or a pack of cards is an advantage; the crew love teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Our porters and Sherpa's also like to have singing and dancing competitions in which they love you to join in! Finally, it's off to bed for a well deserved night's rest before you start it all again.
Outline Itinerary
Detail Itinerary for Jomsom Muktinath Family Trek
Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Welcome to Himalayan country of Nepal. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan intl. airport our representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. After time to get refreshed, evening you'll meet and transfer for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu and briefing about your trip and overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing & trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)
After breakfast the day will start to our guided trip to cultural world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley; the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, the world biggest Bouddhanath Stupa and visit Swoyambhunath Stupa also known as monkey temple. After exploring the surrounding areas visit historical Kathmandu Durbar Square with temple, unique architectures and Kumari (living goddess). Evening pre-trip discussion and introduce with our fellow trekking staff for your adventure trip.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara valley (823m/2,700ft), 5-6 hrs drive
Early morning drive by tourist bus to Pokhara through the beautiful Nepalese countryside to reach the Pokhara lakeside and transfer to the hotel and rest of the time explore the surrounding lakeside areas and overnight at hotel.
Day 04: Fly to Jomsom (2,715m/8,910ft), trek to Kagbeni(3,710m/12,170ft) 3-4 hrs walk
After breakfast morning flight to Jomsom, a super scenic flight of 20 minutes brings you at Jomsom, the district headquarter of Mustang. From Jomsom our trek continues on the gradual & windy path on the Kali Gandaki river bed for about 3 hrs and finally reaching at Ekley-bhatti village. After good stop here an hour of easy walk reaches you to Kagbeni, which lies at the bank of two rivers. Kagbeni, an interesting wind swept villages situated on the main age old Trans himalayan salt trade route to Tibet via Upper Mustang area. Day: 05 Trek to Muktinath (3,800/12,467ft), 5-6hrs walk From Kagbeni the path climbs steepy to re-join the direct trail leading to Khingar at 3200m. The trail climbs through a desert landscape till Jarkot Village. A further climb brings you to Muktinath.
Day 05: Kagbeni to Muktinath (3,800/12,467ft), 4-5 hrs walk
Today, we start you our trek to Muktinath. Firstly with walk a arid area and steeply climb up to the ridge for an hour and further gentle uphill with a scenic view of Annapurna and Tukuche as well as to the upper mustang part. We cross the small villages and reach at Jharkot which place is a great place to encounters with local Thakali and with its traditional dresses. Here is a very old monastery made around 500 years before and can be seen the local culture as well. After here half an hour climb up to the hill will reaches at Muktinath which is a superb scenic Himalayan ranges and arid area. You will have chance to encounters with many brave trekkers who came through crossing the Throung la (5,416 m) from the Manang side. You can explore the areas and overnight at hotel.
Day 06: Muktinath to Marpha (2,670m/8,760ft), 6-7 hrs walk
We visit temple in the morning and continuing our journey descending to the Kaligandaki river valley floor, with a brief stop at Ekle bhatti meaning a lonely teahouse, from here onwards the valley gets very windy path, the walk follows the gentle trail for another two hours till the large town of Jomsom a town and a headquarter of the Mustang region with a small airstrip just above the Kaligandaki River. After lunch at Jomsom further two hours of easy walk towards south east brings us at Marpha for the overnight stop, which is little gem, with whitewashed houses, paved streets and numerous well kept lodges. Here you will have time to celebrate with the local apple products like cider, brandy and juice and dinner with apple pie.
Day 07: Marpha to Ghasa (2,120m/6,955ft), 6-7 hrs walk
Today, the walk is very enjoyable following the Kaligandaki river down stream reaches another charming village at Tukuche, close beneath the Tukuche peak and Dhaulagiri with spectacular views of Mt. Nilgiri's and the massif icefalls which tumbles from the Dhaualgiri's east face, after an hour walk from Tukuche continuing trek down to Kalolpani village for lunch, and this is another lovely village of more than 30 houses with excellent tea houses and lodge with grandeur view of Mt. Annapurna I, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri above the beautiful pine forest. After 2 hrs easy downhill brings you long settled Thakali village for overnight at lodge.
Day 08: Ghasa to Tatopani (1,200m/3937ft), 4-5 hrs walk
The route dramatically changes the vegetation, from dry, arid desert to pine and conifer forests, as we pass between two giant peaks of Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna's. From Ghasa the southern end of the area dominated by Thakali people till Tatopani, the architectural style change, with much ornately carved wood work in evidence. This pleasant walk amidst the beautiful surrounding continues back to the terraced paddy fields and into warm sub-tropical climate all the way to the village of Tatopani passing through the beautiful waterfalls of Rupse waterfall. We come down through Dana village (the deepest gorge of the world) and after lunch onwards couple of hour to get to Tatopani for natural hot spring bath. Explore the local place and overnight at hotel.
Day 09: Relaxing day at hot spring
Today, we a full day relaxing at hot bath and after long day at Himalaya enjoy your day with Nepalese lifestyle and explore surrounding village, read your book or play pool. It's depends on your interest you have full free to do your own and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 10: Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,850m/9,350ft), 6-7 hrs walk
Spending wonderful day at hot spring we trek down before crossing a suspension bridge over the Kaligandaki river, the path leads by the river for a while just arriving at the junction of the two trails, the other wide path follows the river all the way to Beni. We diverts from here taking the left uphill climb, the first of the climb is quite steep to the top, and continue with farms and villages, from this spot a gradual climb leads us most of the day, leaving behind the terraced fields walking in the dense rhododendron forests and reaching at Ghorepani for the overnight at teahouse. This is a great place for mountain scenery.
Day 11: Trek to Ghorapani (2,750m/9,020ft), 6-7 hrs walk
An early morning start for 40 minutes hike up to Poon hill (3210m/10530ft), the route offers the glimpse of the pleasant rhododendron forest. This brilliant viewpoint provides us an unobstructed sunrise over the high Himalayas and the wide range of panoramic scenery from the far western Himalaya of Dolpo, Mt. Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna including Mt. Machhapuchre (Fish Tail) and all the way to Manasalu. After a great time return back to Ghorepani for breakfast and continue trek to Tikhadhunga for overnight.
Day 12: Trek to Nayapul & Drive to Pokhara, 3-4 hrs walk & 1hour drive
This is our last day trek after long days and immersing yourself to finish quickly this day. Trek leads through the scenic landscapes and local villages to get down to the Saulii bazzar settled in river bank of Modi. Further an easy path reaches at Birethanthi for lunch, where is the confluence of Modi and Bhurungdi River. After half an hour flat walk will reach at Nayapul. Our trek ends here and drives back to Pokhara lakeside for the overnight stop. Remaining time explore the surrounding lake side area and simply relax at the heart of Lake Town.
Day 13: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft), 7-8 hrs drive
Early morning drive by tourist bus to Pokhara through the beautiful Nepalese countryside to reach the Kathmandu. On arrival at Kathmandu guide will transfer to the hotel and rest of the time relax or explore the surrounding areas and overnight at hotel.
Day 14:
Departure from Kathmandu
Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you'll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.

Useful information before joining this trip
Trekking Group
In our trekking group the minimum number will be 2 persons and the maximum number will be 10 persons. For single also we organize the trip with single
supplement (except some region most require minimum 2 persons), also you may join with our group in Kathmandu but make sure before you book the trip and
concern more than 11 persons it doesn't mean we are not operating, we do on request. To keep the limit group size which means we can provide a best services
and personal take care to our valuable clients.
Physical Requirements
Trekkers who are making their plan to travel in the Himalaya, this most require a good health condition and physically fitness with mentally refreshed. You
are walking in the Himalaya about 4 to 7 hrs everyday and reaches at highest place. Depends on your trip you are starting your trek from 1000m/3280 feet
to 5550m/18204 feet. So, health is a most essential part for your adventure travel. Nepal Vision treks most require your medical fitness certificate prior
to your booking. Before the trip booking with us we suggest to consult with your Medical Doctor and in his/her references go for your trip booking process.
Our Trek Leaders and Staffs
Nepal Vision is a well stabilized trekking company and we employed professional trek leader (who are based on English speaking and few are multi-lingual's)
and required crew member (they have basic knowledge of communication) who are working with us since 1992 and some are trainers. Most of our field staffs are
from the local area covering from eastern to western Himalayan ranges, which support the local people directly. They have good health fitness as well as
well experience with good knowledge of team leading in the Himalayan region. We also provide the training to our staff increasing their work efficiency and

Our operation is smooth as a safety concern: For our trek group, there will be one Leader and one Sherpa porter for two persons and above this will be one Leader, one assistance leader and one Sherpa porter based on two persons. This ensure if in case of one get sick, it would not disturb the itinerary and fellow members, the trip still running as plan as in itinerary. And please understand that our group starts from 2 and maximum it goes up to 10 which is good team to communicate and facilitate in every manner.
Porter Care: In our group member each has allowed his/her gear bag weighted not exceeding than 15kgs/33 pounds that we strongly care of porters rights and solely against any exploitation on its operation and we are closely working with IPPG (International Porters Progress Group).
Meals and Accommodation
We will provide all meals on full board basis during the trekking period. On teahouse trek we'll be providing from the teahouse menu three times a day (Breakfast,
Lunch, Dinner and tea & coffee during the meal), On camping trek we will be providing fresh & hygienic food prepared by our camp chef and assistance
from our own kitchen, which we set up everyday. During the stay in Kathmandu meals on breakfast basis only included in the price. Snacks, bottled drinks
including mineral water and alcohol are not included in the price. You have freedom to have meal during the lunch and dinner out of hotel.
We provide twin sharing accommodation with private bathroom on the tourist standard hotel during the stay in Kathmandu on B.B. plan. On teahouse style trek twin sharing accommodation on teahouse/Lodges and on camping style trek accommodation on twin sharing tented camp (Single occupancy available on request).

Travel InsuranceTravel insurance is most essential if you are going to travel in the Himalaya; which protect your financial securities and compensate your lost property as well as life security. We are requesting to bring your travel insurance with you. Travel insurance should cover helicopter evacuation to be required and in case of any emergency, we talking with your insurance company then provide the evacuation for your life safety. Unless here in Kathmandu available on request.
Climate and Weather
Nepal is a country of diversified in a topography starting from 60 meters to top of the world 8,848 meters. Basically we have dry season from October to
May and the wet season (monsoon) from June to September. Mid September to end of the November is one of the best times and also March to May good to visit
in Nepal. During the autumn the vegetation is lush after the rains of the monsoon and the air is clean and fresh and spring can be a little dusty but with pleasant
& warm weather. December to February is good for visibility but cold in high altitude as well as Kathmandu too. Starting the rain from June and till
the mid of the September and cloudy weather badly for visibility.
Passport and Visa Requirements
Before you traveling check your passport and validity date. You most require a valid passport to visit out of country. Passports most have at least 6 months
validity after finish date of your trip. We most require your copy of full passport details with correct spelling written in your passport or scan copy is most
preferable.
In Nepal you will require a visa which can be obtained in advance from the Nepalese Embassy from your country or you can get on arrival at the airport in Kathmandu.

- multiple entry 90 days US$ 100 or equivalent convertible currency.
Permits and fees
In Nepal, you most require a permits and fees to enter a certain areas such as World heritage sites, National Park, restricted areas along climbing as well.
All the trip prices are including the cost of relevant permits and entrance fees. Incase of any such conditions we will inform you if required any additional
permit fees before you make a booking with us.

We are happy to help and reply responsively as soon as possible. We'll hold your booking with us before your final decision. Please read properly our trip
booking terms & conditions before your booking and fill up the booking form (download from our website) along with the appropriate deposit of 20 % per person
in advance and payment made through the bank transfer or submit your credit card (visa/master card) details with booking form. When you choose the method
of advance payment in an appropriate way, a signed and completed booking form will still be required for confirmation of booking. Bookings will only be confirmed
once we receive a completed and signed booking form along with appropriate payment.
The final balance for your booking will be on arrival in Kathmandu. We will invoicing you after your arrival for the final balance along with other final pre departure details as appropriate. Your final invoice will show the price based on the previous quote at the time of invoicing.

Clothing and Equipment
Correct Clothing & Equipments are essential for a safe and enjoyable trek. As part of the booking process, we will provide you with a comprehensive clothing and equipment list for the chosen trek. Experienced trekkers will often take only a selection of these items based on what has worked in the past. Please find the equipment list below for your personal use during your travel with us.
- Foot wear:
Walking boots, Wool and liner socks, sandals - Clothing:
Waterproof jacket and trousers, Trekking trousers, Long sleeve shirts, Micro fleece, Mid to heavyweight fleece, Sleeveless or body warmer type fleece, Thermals or base layer for top & bottom (merino wool or synthetic), Fleece pants, Medium weight down jacket. - Hand wear:

Sleeping bag, Backpack large enough to carry water bottles, camera, lunch and extra clothing, Stuff sacks for keeping your gear dry and organized, two water bottles (Nalgene wide mouth bottles are the best), Sunscreen and lip salve with a high SPF, Insect repellent, Water purification tablets (Pristine, Biox Acqua or Acqa Mira), Favourite snack food, Books, ipod and cards etc, Trekking poles, Camera with spare batteries and memory cards, Insurance certificate. - Travelling:
Duffle bag or large backpack for your personal gear on the trek (carried by a porter), Bring a small combination padlock to secure the bag, Travel clothes. You will need casual clothing for air travel days and time spent in Kathmandu, Toiletry bag include toilet paper, soap, towel, toothbrush, etc. - Personal first aid kit:
Any personal medications, Diamox helps with acclimatization.
