Nepal is the paradise for birds with nearly 870 species which arguably more than the whole continent of Europe and North Africa combined. Nepal constitutes more than 10% of the world's total bird species. Just to list a few: eight species of stork, six species of pheasant, eighteen species of cuckoo, three species of crow, cormorant, egret, black ibis, eagle, falcon, duck, chukar, partridge, sarus crane, lapwing pigeon, bengal green pigeon, dove, parakeet, koel cuckoo, owl, vulture, peafowl, red jungle fowl, swallow, black drong, blue jay, wood pecker, black-headed shrike, common myna, red-vented bulbul, paradise flycatcher, brahminy duck, house sparrow, red mania, and hawk. The opportunity to see these and other birds will make your trip a memorable and enjoyable one. These trips also provide panoramic mountain views, glimpses of wild animals and exposure to the local people's culture and traditions.

Detail Itinerary for Birds trip in Nepal


Day 01: Arrival day
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan intl. airport our representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. At the evening you'll transfer for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant with the cultural & musical programs in the heart of Kathmandu and briefing about your trip and overnight at Hotel.


Day 02: Bird tour to Kathmandu
After breakfast you will be transfer for Birdwatching trips in Kathmandu (Khokana village/ Godawari garden/Bugmati village/ Kirtipur panga Paddi field). In these areas we have many opportunity to see birds and the trips also provide panoramic mountain views, glimpses of different animals and the local people's culture and traditions and overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.


Day 03: Fly to Biratnager & transfer to Koshi Tappu
After breakfast as per the flight schedule for Biratnager you will be transfer to the domestic airport for one and half hour scenic flight to Biratnager. We will transfer you to the hotel by private vehicle to Koshi tappu and overnight at the camp.


Day 04: Bird watching tour to Koshi Tappu
Koshi Tappu is the most important wetland for migratory water birds in Nepal, and one of the most important in Asia. A total of 485 bird species has been recorded here. It has the largest heronry in Nepal and 20 globally threatened bird species have been recorded. This is especially important for some wetland and grassland species, notably Swamp Francolin, Baer's Pochard, Pallas's Fish Eagle, Greater Spotted Eagle, Lesser Adjutant, Spot-billed Pelican and Bristled Grassbird. Other globally threatened animal species include Ganges Dolphin, Nilgai, Smooth-coated Otter, Gharial, and Red-crowned Roof Turtle and overnight at the camp.


Day 05: Bird watching tour to Koshi Tappu
Today you will take to see more birds and other mammals at the area of Koshi Tappu. Overnight.


Day 06: Drive to Chitwan National Park
After breakfast in the hotel you will be transfer by private vehicle to Chitwan(about 9/10 hours) drive through the countryside to reach the Chitwan and you will be transfer to the hotel. After check in to the hotel and refreshed you will brief about full nature programs by our nature guide and head on for activities. After briefing about the nature programs you will guided for village walk and sunset view, visit elephant breeding center and evening dinner with cultural program and overnight.


Day 07: Bird tour to Chitawan National Park
Chitawan national park is one of the important Bird Area because of its international importance for threatened species and their habitat conservation. Moreover, this park is not only endowed with rich biodiversity, but also an equally rich cultural heritage. A total of 540 bird species has been recorded in Chitawan. As many as two-thirds of Nepal's globally threatened bird species have been recorded in Chitawan. The site is especially important for several grassland species, including Bengal Florican, Grey-crowned Prinia cinereocapilla and Slender-billed Babbler, Turdoides longirostris, and also for Lesser Adjutant. It is the only Nepalese locality where the Slender-billed Babbler has been recorded and it may support a larger population than any other area in the Indian subcontinent. Chitawan is the only Nepal site where Grey-crowned Prinia is common and it may also hold the largest population in the specie's range. The globally threatened Indian Spotted Eagle has breed in the park, one of its few known breeding localities in Nepal. The large proportion of 15 out of 22 of Nepal's near-threatened birds has been found in Chitwan. Today, you will transfer to the Elephant back safari for jungle excursion. After lunch you will have chance to view an elephant bath, bird watching in the forest area and you will take to the canoe ride and jungle walk and overnight at the hotel.


Day 08: Drive to Kathmandu
This morning you will transfer to see more birds in the river bank of Rapti, where you can find more than 250 species of bird. And after finished breakfast you will departure to Kathmandu by private transportation.


Day 09: Bird tour to Sivapuri Conservation Area
Wake up early in the morning & you will transfer to the domestic airport for Mt. flight. Afternoon you will be transfer for bird watching tour around Shivapuri Conservation area. Shivapuri National Park lies on the northern side of the Kathmandu Valley. It was established as a wildlife reserve in 1985 but measures for its protection were initiated as early as 1975 under the Shivapuri Watershed Development Board. It was designated a national park in 2003. It is the second highest mountain that surrounds the Kathmandu Valley. It is the main source of the rivers Bagmati and Vishnumati that flow the southern slopes of the mountain. A total of 178 species of birds has been recorded in Shivapuri and even many more species can be likely to occur. The park has good populations of Spiny Babbler and Hoary-throated Barwing, two-restricted-range species. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.


Day 10: Departure
Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you'll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.
