Bhutan: Land of Thunder Dragons

Bhutan, officially the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a small nation in South-East Asia bordering with China to the north and India to the east and west. Thimpu is the capital and largest city of Bhutan.

A small country nestled in the Eastern Himalaya, it is often revered as "the Land of the Thunder Dragons". It is still regarded as one of the last Shangri-La because of its ancient and artistically rich Buddhist monasteries and remote mountain terrains. Largely unexplored by the foreign tourists, it allows limited number of discerning travelers to enter the country in order to protect its fragile environment and culture. Rich in hospitality and quality service, people of Bhutan are very welcoming.

The population here is predominantly Buddhist, mostly following Vajrayana Buddhism. The primary attraction in Bhutan is observing the local lifestyle, culture and traditions. The colorful dragon dances, folk mask dances and other festivals make the region lively and artistically rich. The other major sightseeing destinations are, Paro Taktsang, Rinpung Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang. Golden Langur (Monkey), Royal Bengal Tiger, Sloth bear, One-horned rhino and Hispid hare are common animals found in the region.

The 50/min flight from Kathmandu to Paro (Paro District of Bhutan) offers closest aerial views of Everest, Kanchenjunga and other famous mountains of Great Himalaya range.
